Class Description
Whether you’re on the road for conferences, clients, or leisure, travel offers unique opportunities to express your photographic creativity. Knowing what to capture, when to show up, and how to compose and shoot the scene before leaving home, helps maximize limited travel time to capture photographic gold.
This class will explore envisioning the travel photographic process from beginning to end through discussion and hands-on-experiences designed to cultivate compositional inspiration, identify APPS & tools for locating subjects that tell the stories of time, place & people, and planning the best time to shoot.
Students will learn photographic/camera techniques essential to capturing compelling travel images from landscapes to cityscapes, rural villages to mega cities, markets to cathedrals, and the people, animals, and plants that inhabit diverse cultural spaces.
We will explore composition, camera settings and equipment to achieve desired results, and various genres related to travel photography–landscape, architecture, wildlife, street/reportage, etc.
We will work through post-processing techniques to achieve high impact images, including use of Lightroom, Adobe Camera Raw, Photoshop, and plugins such as Nik and Topaz.
In addition to classroom work students will have opportunity to learn on the go with planned ‘travel’ experiences in the DFW metroplex. Locations will be subject to change due to weather conditions and some locations may require an entry fee in addition to your Texas School tuition. Expect to experience the diversity of Dallas-Fort Worth.
Finally, we will spend time exploring sales opportunities for your travel/fine art images. Stephen will share from his experiences in developing a successful online print-on-demnad business .
The overwhelming majority of his 3900+ images on Fine Art America were captured while traveling for business and/or on family vacations. Careful planning for limited, yet focused photographic moments, have lead to both sales success and award-winning images .
If you are looking to up your travel photography game, find new outlets for sales, capture your next image competition subject, or simply want to make your friends jealous of your travel adventures, this class is for you. Bring your camera and lenses that typically travel with you, tripod, laptop, notebook, and be ready for adventure!
