Class Description
What if your next big revenue opportunity isn’t another camera, another photo booth, or another type of photography—but an experience?
This class takes photographers and photo booth owners beyond traditional photography and into the growing world of profitable event experiences. You’ll learn how to take an idea from concept to client to successful execution—and, most importantly, how to build an experience that clients are excited to buy.
Taught by Jamie Cobb, owner of PhotoVille, and James Trivlis, co-founder of Curator Live, this is a hands-on, business-focused class that combines photography, technology, branding, marketing, sales, products, and real-world event execution.
You won’t simply learn how different activations work. You’ll learn how to look at an event and ask:
- What does the client need?
- What experience can I create?
- What should I charge?
- How do I sell it?
- How do I execute it?
- And how do I make money doing it?
We’ll begin with the photography fundamentals that create the foundation for successful event experiences. Photography 101 will cover camera settings, lighting, composition, posing, and the fundamentals of creating professional headshots and event portraits.
You’ll learn how to evaluate an opportunity, determine what the client is really asking for, build an experience around their goals, and create a package that is both exciting to the client and profitable for you.
You’ll learn the advantages, limitations, equipment requirements, and best-use situations for different printing and delivery methods so you can build a workflow that is reliable, efficient, and appropriate for the event.
You’ll learn how to think through an event before you arrive so you aren’t trying to solve problems while a line of guests is standing in front of your activation.
The goal is to build systems that allow you to deliver a consistent, professional experience—even when the event is busy.
Who Should Take This Class?
This class is designed for photographers and photo booth owners who want to add another revenue stream, enter the event market, or rethink the way they approach events.
Bring your Camera, Laptop, Plenty of memory cards, Comfortable shoes and most importantly bring your business.
We want to look at what you’re already doing and identify realistic opportunities to apply what you’re learning to your existing clients, services, and market.
Be prepared to photograph, participate, experiment, collaborate, troubleshoot, and get involved. This is a hands-on experience designed to get you thinking, creating, testing, and building.
Come ready to work. Leave ready to sell.
