Class Description
Lighting doesn’t have to be complicated.
Whether you’re photographing in the studio, on location, or anywhere in between, the goal is the same: creating beautiful portraits with confidence, consistency, and purpose.
In this immersive week-long class, you’ll learn a complete lighting system designed to help you confidently create beautiful portraits in virtually any environment. We’ll simplify off-camera flash by focusing on the principles that matter most: understanding light, controlling it, and adapting it to any location.
Throughout the week, you’ll discover how small adjustments in light placement, modifier choice, camera settings, and ambient exposure can dramatically change the final image.
We’ll cover:
– Studio lighting fundamentals
– One-light, two-light, and multi-light setups
– Outdoor lighting in harsh midday sun and golden hour
– High-Speed Sync and ND filter techniques
– Soft light vs. hard light
– Lighting patterns for flattering portraits
– Modifier selection and light shaping
– Color gels and creative lighting
– Efficient lighting workflows for real client sessions
Every day includes classroom instruction, live demonstrations, and hands-on shooting, so you’ll immediately reinforce what you’ve learned. You’ll photograph a variety of subjects in both studio and outdoor environments while receiving personalized guidance throughout the week.
By the end of the class, you’ll have more than a collection of lighting setups; you’ll have a complete lighting system that allows you to confidently walk into any location, solve lighting challenges, and create exceptional portraits for every client.
