The 2024 World Photographic Cup Awards are Coming to the Texas School of Professional Photography

The World Photographic cup will be awarded to the winning country on April 27, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, hosted by the Texas School of Professional Photography. Don Dickson, the Texas School Director, said, “We are excited to host about 200 international guests from 40 countries. This will only be the second time the WPC has been awarded in the United States in the last 15 years of the program.”

Each year, the best-of-the-best from around the globe compete for the honor of winning the World Photographic Cup. Like the Olympic Games, the Cup awards individuals’ images with gold, silver, and bronze medals. Then, teams earn points based on an aggregate score of the top ten images in all categories. The World Photographic Cup is awarded to the national team that receives the highest overall score.

Images for Team USA are selected from PPA member images that merited in the Merit Image Review process or that scored well in the annual International Photographic Competition.

Sunday Activities
We are having a special treat for our international guest and Texas School attendees on Sunday April 28 after the Awards Gayla on Saturday.

We are going to take everyone to the stock yards in downtown Fort Worth for a real cattle drive with Texas Longhorn steers and a real Texas BBQ.  You will be bused back the hotel in time for the opening ceremony on Sunday evening.  The final cost of the day’s events will be established based on participation and will  be announced before the event so everyone can purchase a ticket.

“TEXAS SCHOOL is like nothing any of you have seen. When registration opens on January 3rd (at exactly 11pm Central) they will have between 600-800 registrations in the first hour or so. Thats not an exaggeration.

There are some that feel going to “school” is not really for them. The word school is just a word and does not describe the experience. Think professional development in an environment that focusses on sharing knowledge and experience on all levels.

A few years back I had a very well-known American photographer take my class. He has more awards than many I know. His response when I asked him “what the heck are you doing in my class?”. He said he liked the kind of photography I did and all he needed “was 3 or 4 little nuggets or ideas” to an ensure a return on his investment. What a great attitude from a super established photographer.

On top of the 5 days of classes, you get free evening meals, parties and free beer and wine most nights.
