Advance Photoshop Tools and Techniques

Terri Butler
Course Number: 4
Level: Intermediate to Advanced

Whether you are a traditional photographer or a photoshop artist and compositor, having excellent photoshop skills can be a game changer.  This course is designed to fill your toolbox with tools and techniques around multiple photoshop topics from basic post processing to high end compositing.

We will begin the week with some features of the Photoshop interface and some tools you may not use today and cover the advance features of Adobe Camera Raw.  We will move into fixing and healing your image and retouching techniques.  Then we will spend time learning the rules of color and explore several techniques around changing and fixing color and power of using blend if.

We then move into a more artistic compositing mode and cover advance techniques for selections, transformations, perspective and lighting your creations.  We wrap things up with technique for finishing your images with contrast, sharpening and adding those special effects like fog, dust, shadows and other features of realism to really bring your composite together.

  • Learn tools and technique for changing and modifying color, lighting and element perspective.
  • Learn how to finish composites like a pro with environment elements, proper shadows, and depth of field blur.

Meet the Instructor:

For more than 12 years Terri has been using and teaching Photoshop and digital painting techniques.  She returned to photography as a hobby after retiring from a 22 year career in the U.S. Navy and 18 years an independent IT consultant.

Defining herself as a “creative” versus a photographer, Terri captures her wildlife, nature, and travel images to use in paintings and digital composites.  Her passions are photorealistic painting as well as artistic photomontages that blend dozens of photo elements and textures together for creative stories.

Terri has had 14 artworks published in “Living the Photo Artistic Life” magazine since June 2022 and she continues to submit artworks to art competitions as well as photography print competitions.

She is set to receive her Master Artist Degree from PPA in January.
